26th July 2016:

Very helpful kind and friendly hosts- made us feel very welcome but not at all intrusive. Mary showed real interest in kids reading and brought books for them to read and a map for us ; hill was a challenge for our fully loaded car but Bill helped us get up thankfully! We didn't mind at all not having TV- however wi fi access would be helpful simply to keep eye on weather to plan days and where to go/ sometimes to access local info- eg the bike at glenlivet trails

Tips:

Plenty of local walks at glenlivet estate and plenty to do straight from cottage. Also some longer bike routes available but some a little demanding for younger kids- our 8 year old struggled with some of off road bits. Info centre at Tomintoul was helpful. We really enjoyed mountain bike trail centre and bike mechanic there helped us with a fix for our 8 year olds bike. Kids and adults enjoyed tour of Glenlivet distillery. We went to Nairn beach on sunny day and took us 50 min to get there - recommend through caravan park to East beach.

25th May 2016:

We had a wonderful time at The Mill. The house is beautiful, comfortable, roomy and modern and rebuilt in natural stone to look perfect in its environment. We particularly enjoyed the comfort and restfulness of the small library. A great choice of interesting books from Marjory who runs The Bookmark bookshop in Granton on Spey. The thoughtfulness of the welcome pack and friendliness of Bill and Marjory made us feel very welcome.

Tips:

The Glenlivet estate has walks right from the door. The Bochell circuit is great. A mixed walk of woodland, both pine and deciduous, farmland and moorland and a walk up The Bochell is an option. Loads of other walks, all well signposted. A visit to The Glenlivet distillery just down the road is a must. The tour is free and a wee dram at the end. Lots of places to drive to. The coast is not far and neither are the Cairngorm mountains.
