We were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. All the facilities and necessary information were clearly explained by the friendly owners. Our room was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm with a complimentary whisky which was a very nice touch. Everything worked as it should and the room and bed were very comfortable. There is a lounge available for guests to use in addition to their room. Wi-Fi available and good quality. Breakfast cooked to order at a time to suit us with plenty of options for everybody. Lovely friendly stay run by very nice people.
Tips:Dufftown is a small settlement in the heart of “Whisky Country”. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with local attractions throughout the year such as “Dramathon”, Highland Games and outdoor pursuits to suit most people and families. A local shop for essentials and a wide range of choices stays open until 10pm. Within 2 minutes walk there is an Indian takeaway and a hotel with excellent hot food available.

One of the best B&B we had in Scotland. Lovely and personally furnished rooms and breakfest with fresh and local products. Steve knows a lot about Whisky and provides insider tips. Although we stayed only for onw night we loved it. Thank you Steve and Jo! If you want to stay over in Dufftown I definitely recommend Gowanbrae!
Tips:For dinner we can recommend the Indian takeaway/restaurant. Glenfiddich is a must but also the rest of the Speyside region with all the Destillieries is very nice.

The hosts Steve and JO are a very welcoming couple who done everything possible to make my stay memorable. Rooms were a good size, very clean, modern, warm and fresh. Excellent breakfast. Ice cold fresh water at hand in fridge 24hrs per day. Would go back without any doubt.
Tips:Good Indian restaurant a stones throw from the B&B, Co-op open till late for your snacks and newspapers. The Glenfiddich Distillery tour is a must for the whisky connoisseur.

We had a super stay at Gowanbrae and our hosts Steve & Jo could not have been nicer. The house was first class in every way. Very clean and well kitted out with everything you need. Breakfast was excellent and Jo’s homemade preserves were lovely (fruit picked from the garden too) Very comfortable stay and will definitely return.
Tips:We were at a wedding so didn’t explore but from previous visits there is so much to see in and around Dufftown. There are nice restaurants and coffee shops. The heart of Whisky country where many distilleries have visitor centres. If you want to see the real Scotland visit Dufftown

7th August 2022:
Jo and Steve are wonderfully welcoming hosts for whom nothing would appear to be too much trouble. Their local knowledge is to be relied upon - both very friendly and inclusive. Jo's home made preserves really get the day off to a cracking start as part of a very fulsome Scottish breakfast choice.
Tips:If you are interested in the areas most outstanding and famous product, Gowanbrae is ideal. Steve has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the local industry and is enthusiastic in sharing it. Around the corner is one of the very best French restaurants in the area - again, with a wonderful whisky snug managed by a great hostess - if you are lucky enough to be able to get a table, it is only 4-5 minutes stagger back to Gowanbrae! Even if whisky and fine food is not your thing you only need to look around at the beautiful countryside - a short journey of just a few miles will enchant.

My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing stay at Gowenbrae. Steve and Jo are extremely friendly and accomodating hosts. The breakfast was delicious, and the bedroom and common areas were very comfortable.
Tips:Next time we'll stay longer as there's so much to do in the area. The Indian restaurant just two doors away is delicious and there are other restaurants that would be fun to try.

The house is extremely conformable and well kept. We received a warm welcome and support from the hosts throughout our visit. We had a nice room. The breakfast was good and there were was a comfortable lounge area. Nothing not to like here.
Tips:Limited options for eating out so you need to book tables in advance. The train trip to Keith is worthwhile as is visiting nearby Aberlour. Lots of distilleries to visit in the area but again best to book in advance.
