We had a truly memorable stay. A beautiful manor house out in the scenic countryside of Speyside with top-notch accommodations, a comfortable bed, meals worthy of a Michelin chef, and the friendliest hosts in all of Scotland! Colin and Sarah were terrific and made sure we had a comfortable stay.

This was our first trip to Speyside, a last minute decision being our 25th wedding anniversary which we decided on literally the week before. Colin and Sarah were fantastic hosts as we were hoping for a couple of nights and after a quick call, Colin confirmed they could squeeze us in. I can't thank Colin enough for his suggestions and knowledge. We were within minutes of all my grail distilleries, Balvenie, Glenfiddich, Aberlour, Macallan etc. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop. It was an unexpected treat to also see the aurora borealis which Colin kindly told everyone was on display. Their home is a wonderful, cosy retreat after a busy day exploring, they're so welcoming and Friday evening was a treat to relax in the living room with everyone sharing stories over a dram or three. Sarah's breakfasts set you up for the day, I'd recommend you try her porridge! Thank-you both for a wonderful, relaxing visit. I'm already thinking about when I can return... with a little more planning this time!

This is our fourth stay at the Cardhu Country House and it is by far the best place to stay in Speyside. Great hospitality, fabulous food, cosy log fires, bedrooms and bathrooms so comfortable and very clean.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Colin and Sarah work incredibly hard to create the perfect stay. The house and grounds are lovely, extremely comfortable, and their food is delicious. It was a wonderful finale to our week in Scotland.
Tips:The Cardhu Country House recommended the Doran Hotel for dinner and it did not disappoint. Their food was the best we’ve had in Scotland and their massive whisky selection is awe-inspiring. The food was superb and you have not lived until you have tried their Passionfruit Baked Alaska. We also enjoyed an educational whisky tasting at Cardhu Distillery and a visit to the Craigachiel Bridge. Had a wonderful woodland walk in the Aganach Woods and along the River Spey near Grantown-on-Spey. And don’t miss the Neil Ross sheepdog experience past Avermore.

Second time staying, once again super impressed with the location, the cleanliness of the house, and the welcome given to us by the owners. Colin and Sarah are truly wonderful hosts, we had our evening meal there again, which was so so good, the leek potato and whisky vicyssoise was amazing, along with the mixed platter (try colins chilli jam if you like a wee bit of heat). We will be back !!
Tips:We went to Glenfarclas distillery for a tour, which was informative and really interesting. A wonderful whisky was to be had at the tasting in the ships room. The next morning we visited the Knockando woolen mill, again it was interesting, but the stuff for sale was a bit expensive.

Beautiful house, in a beautiful location. Absolutely spotless inside and the garden is beautiful too. The room was top notch and the bed was so comfortable. Because of that and the natural tranquility of the area I had the most amazing night's sleep I've had in years. You could too. The hosts were very pleasant and the breakfast was too. I highly recommend this place.
Tips:If you like distilleries you are next door to cardhu, mcallan and aberlour and plenty of others are nearby too. Plenty of opportunity to go fishing and walking in this part of Scotland too.

Lovely setting. Beautifully decorated rooms. Food was outstanding. It's is very apparent that the hosts are passionate cooks. 5 star restaurant quality food. Hosts were very helpful with plans.
Tips:The cemetery next door deserves a quiet amble -- Just down the road is the Woolen Mill -- worth a visit to view film re process to make wool into cloth. And the snack bar serves excellent food--we had fruit scone, quiche and salad.

We very much appreciate that they were able to accommodate our request for an earlier breakfast on the date of our departure. Colin and Sarah were wonderful hosts and their home is in a marvelous location out in the Scottish countryside.

The attention to detail is very very good. We are not breakfast people, I fear we missed a great breakfast! The standards of the bedroom and bathroom are in keeping with my comment about attention to detail.
Tips:Dinner at 1881 in Archiestown while expensive was totally unexpected. The skill of the chef seems totally out of keeping for a small village in the Highlands.

Stayed here with a friend on a cycling trip. Absolutely excellent all round. Dinner delicious and room spotless. Loved the fluffy robes available for our use. Great breakfast and to top it all off our bikes had been retrieved from the shed and were waiting for us at the door!

Our experience there was excellent! The staff, Colin and Sarah, were accommodating , engaging and very helpful. The place is comfortable, warm, old fashioned but with all the modern amenities. The grounds were quiet, perfect for what we wanted. I would not hesitate to recommend and/or return if we found ourselves in this part of the world again.
Tips:The only ‘negative’ is its a little bit iff the beaten path, but once you get there you know why. As for restaurants, Colin made suggestions that were spot on: The Mash Tun and the Dowans 57 in Aberlour. And then the Highlander, with an unbeatable selection of Whiskeys. All three were excellent in their own way, food, drink and service.

Beautiful house in the middle of the Speyside. Rooms are very large and so is the bed. We had a beautiful dinner with local products and a perfect Scottish breakfast. Colin is a terrific host!

We had a superb one night with you, the mixed platter and STP were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the whisky porridge for breakfast. Our only criticism was the placement of the tv for the bed, we wondered if there was a reason the bed and sofa weren’t swapped over as you get a lovely view from the sofa!

Colin and Sarah make their guest feel most welcome. The country house is charming, stylish and the rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is generous and excellent. Colin and Sarah serve wonderful dinner platters with gourmet charcuterie and fish.
Tips:Try lunch at the Croft Inn in Glenlivet, a visit to Ballindalloch castle or the beautiful Moray coast. Cardhu distillery does very entertaining tours.

Colin and Sarah are fantastic hosts. They go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome. Breakfast in the charming drawing room is excellent. Their dinner platters with fish and gourmet charcuterie are a real treat! We will certainly stay at Cardhu country house again.
Tips:Cardhu distillery does very good tours. The area is great for hiking, visiting distilleries and castles.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cardhu. Colin’s hospitality was first class. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were excellent and so were the boards we shared for dinner. The setting was delightful and we enjoyed some sunny afternoons in the immaculate garden. Highly recommended.
Tips:We walked to the Cardhu distillery and the Knockando Woollen Mill from Cardu House. The distillery was excellent and the mill was a fascinating insight into the local wool and weaving industry. It was very old style and pre Industrial Revolution. Nice cafe and gift shop too. There is no dining in walking distance from the house so we would recommend rebooking restaurants if you want to be sure of a nice dinner.

Highly recommend - a lovely, comfortable old house in the Speyside countryside, just a few minutes walk from the Cardhu Whisky Distillery which offers one of the most informative tours, and a working woolen mill. Some of the other, better-known distilleries, and fine pubs and restaurants and fishing spots, are within a short drive. Our hosts, Colin and Sarah, were charming and full of good advice and the breakfasts superb. We didn’t try the in-house dinner but I’m sure it would have been just as good. Love, love, loved our stay.
Tips:Our favourites - the Cardhu Whisky Distillery tour, the Glenfiddich Distillery Lounge for a high-end stop, country walks, the Highlander Inn and the 1881 restaurant, and 3 Bags Wool shop in Aberlour, if you’re a knitter - the selection of inexpensive wool is amazing.

Colin and Sarah were wonderful, gracious hosts. Their home is spacious and cozy, and the bedrooms are spotless, larger than expected, with super comfortable beds. Breakfasts are delicious with lots of homemade touches. The setting is peaceful and serene. The Cardhu distillery is walking distance, but but it is a 15 minute drive to the nearest town for dinner. Do try the platters for 2 they offer on weeknights for dinner - exceptional!! Highly recommend :).

Lovely spot, house and surroundings were inviting. Next to the Church which had some really interesting gravestones. Room was large and comfortable. Supper was excellent!

Wonderful country manor house. Off the beaten path, quiet, excellent breakfast and knowledgeable staff to guide you on planning your Speyside visit.
Tips:Country roads are small, recommend arriving before dark. Macallan is an incredible experience, first class all the way, recommend booking an experience and making a reservation for lunch. Cardhu distillery is within walking distance and also has a nice car park; small distillery but good experience if you want to understand the basics of making whiskey (also one of the main ingredients for the blended Johnnie Walker brand). Highlander inn is just down the road and a good stop for dinner with a huge selection of whisky (make a reservation as it is small and quite busy with locals).

The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities that you need. The bathroom is large and modern, especially impressive given the age of the house. Breakfast might have been the best part!
Tips:Listen to all of Colin’s advice. We did not and created a minor transportation problem for ourselves. Colin and his son went above and beyond to fix it for us. They know the area and will help you get everything sorted!

We arrived late at night to check in and were welcomed in the warmest possible way. Colin is the most welcoming host ever, always concerned that everything was ok with us, and we appreciated that very much. The stay was short but very comfortable and relaxing. The countryside surroundings are absolutely enchanting. The homemade breakfast was delicious, and once again Colin and his wife went out of their way to accommodate our requests. If one day we return to Scotland we would like to repeat the stay, but longer if possible. Couldn't recommend a stay at Cardhu Country House more highly!!

Lovely simple but well presented. We liked the simple but v tasty evening meals. Breakfast was lovely. Personally I prefer coffee made with steam. So espresso with milk frothed preferable to filtered. There are probably good margins for you in having wine, but note that this requires upgrade work.

Collin and Sarah are the BEST! They were very communicative before we arrived and then helped us deal with the stress of a lost bag situation by being SUPER (relieving the stress immediately). They had great recommendations for food, tastings, sights to see, etc. You're a bit removed from the hubub but it's such a beautiful house, rooms are well appointed and the breakfast is awesome. Highly recommend them!!!

Colin Ana Sarah we very friendly as well as helpful. They showed us amazing hospitality as if we were friends for decades. Breakfast was delicious. Colin said he was not a master chef, but I doubt it. The location was peaceful as much as it was beautiful. I wanted to hear more about the history of the house and area. I will recommend this place to friends, but not too many, because I want to make sure there is room for me next time. Thank you Colin and Sarah for a wonderful stay. I am saddened it was for such a short stay.
Tips:Explore the area for its beauty and take more time here than you originally planned. There are too many hidden gems in the area, be it food or adventure or amazing distilleries.

An absolute gem. Pictures don’t do it justice. Rooms luxuriously appointed, picturesque environment with engaging hosts who provide an outstanding evening meal and delicious breakfast. We had to pinch ourselves to remind ourselves that it was real. Need to order dinner in advance and a dessert is available. All served in the majestic dining room. Such a high standard of hosting. Thank you Colin and Sarah.

The location of this beautiful property is rural and so very peaceful. The owners are wonderful hosts and have kept the original charm of the house but at the same time managed to incorporate modern en suite facilities. The food was delicious and served in a beautiful dining room. The cooked breakfast was the best I have had in many years.
Tips:The property is in an excellent location for walking the Speyside Way. If one is having the day off walking there is so much to see and do in the area. Public transport is available for taking a tour of the area and beyond.

Beautiful quiet charming hideaway. We felt so welcomed by the hosts and relaxed instantly. Spacious cozy rooms with view to the green garden. Cardhu country house is set in the most beautiful countryside ideal for following the whisky trail and fir just visiting local attractions. The house is beautiful and everything you need is there. If you need anything just ask and Sarah and Colin will do their upmost to sort you out. They go out of their way to make your stay as perfect as possible.
Tips:We have found a few restaurants not far from them The Highlander The Copper Dog Mush Ton And if you don’t mind a bit of a drive The Knowes in Mcduff on the north coast

Granola yogurt really delicious, in fact great breakfast full stop. Although we had a really comfy nights sleep in the Aberlour room it lacks natural daylight and the sloping ceilings can be a bit tricky at times for those over 6ft 2"! However, it was fine for one night and we booked late so were grateful you could accommodate us at all. Service actually 6 out of 5. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying the food you serve in the evening.

Colin and Sarah are wonderful hosts! Our room was quite traditional and very nice, as the whole house is. Nevertheless the bathroom meets modern standards. Breakfast was amazing, i loved haggis and blackpudding! That alone could be a reason to return one day. As is the beautiful landscape. Cardhu distillery is nearby and you’ve got plenty of nice walks around the area. I can strictly recommend the stay at cardhu country house and loved to be there again some day!

We loved our stay at Cardhu House! Colin and Sara made us feel as if we were part of their family. Their home is clean and well maintained in a beautiful area. The "parlor" off the dining area made a great gathering space after dinner to meet new friends and share stories. We truly didn't want to leave at the end of our 2-night stay. The location in whiskey country offers many side trip options.
Tips:Be sure to pre-book your distillery tours before you arrive as they may not have space for walk ins.

Everything was top notch. The homemade meals were superb, our room was quiet, nicely appointed and very clean - they have USB ports in the outlets! The setting was the icing on the cake. Tremendous views, loved the birds, a sense of community abounds.
Tips:This hidden jewel is a Speyside treasure. The owners are gracious, engaging, and good people. You don't need a restaurant during your staying, dinner and breakfast are fantastic. A short walk to Cardu Distillery makes it convenient if you book tours there. Many other distilleries within a 5-10 minute drive.

Unser Aufenthalt bei Collin und Sarah im Cardhu Country House war in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnlich und ließ keine Wünsche offen: Die gesamte Unterkunft ist auf einem gepflegten Grundstück sehr schön gelegen, neben einer alten Friedhofsanlage, sehr sauber und stilvoll und liebevoll eingerichtet, mit hohen, ästhetischen und auf den Service bezogenen Standards. Ausgesprochen schönes, helles Zimmer, geräumiges Bad, und ein traumhaft komfortables Bett, in dem wir drei Nächte wunderbar geschlafen haben (und das wir immer noch vermissen). Collin und Sarah haben wir als sehr offene, freundliche und engagierte Gastgeber erlebt, die uns an unserem Ankunftsabend mit einer vorzüglichen Fisch- beziehungsweise Fleischplatte und jeden Morgen mit einem leckeren Frühstück verwöhnt haben (unsere Favoriten: Sarahs Whisky-Porridge und das gut belegte Buttie). Sie haben uns mit ihren kenntnisreichen Empfehlungen sehr geholfen, unsere Ausflüge in die Umgebung zu planen und aus den vielen Möglichkeiten auszuwählen (unbedingt empfehlenswert: die Küstenwanderung zwischen Hopeman und Lossiemouth). Danke an Sarah und Collin für drei wunderschöne Tage, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Very friendly welcome. Clean and well appointed room, with smart modern bathroom. Breakfast was excellent with great conversation with hosts. Nice old building in a quiet location close to Cardhu distillery(walking distance).
Tips:The area is rural and a magnet for malt whisky lovers. Close to Cardhu, Tomdhu and The Macallan. Didn’t see a lot of police patrolling but have a designated driver to be on the safe side!! A beautiful part of Scotland.

Beautifully maintained country house in heart of Speyside whiskey region. Very close to Cardhu & Macallans distilleries. Gracious and helpful hosts. Lovely room, comfortable, large bed with good quality linens. Excellent selection for breakfast and perfectly prepared. Would highly recommend!
Tips:Choice of distillery tours. Dinner at the Copper Pot Pub at the Craigellachie Hotel (15 min drive) was very good. But main recommendation is to take hosts offer up to dine at the B&B - they prepare a gourmet quality 3 course meal that I feel equals or surpasses the best in the area.

Cardhu Country House is set in a peaceful and beautiful part of Scotland. The house is a bright airy period property, immaculately clean and decorated to a high standard. From checking in, through dinner and breakfast, Dave and Val are very attentive and keen to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction (which it was). We were on a 2 night mini-break and found the time extremely relaxing with excellent food, and service. Highly recommend.
Tips:Dinner & Breakfast are to a very high standard, and we can highly recommend the dinners, that would put many a "starred" restaurant to shame. Take your own wine for the table. Glasses are provided and no corkage is charged. Dave and Val adapted the menu with me being Coeliac which was much appreciated.

Very helpful staff, excellent location. Old trees with red squirrels, perfect room.
Tips:I absolutely recommend to have a dinner there. The foods are amazing, with very cozy fireplace.
